B&B Proposal Stories Shared by Innkeepers:
A young man called the Rivertown Inn in a panic … he had decided that the location he previously planned for his proposal wasn't going to work out. He was at a complete loss for what to do next. Lisa, the innkeeper, created a truly magical setting in the Rivertown Inn's screened-in garden gazebo. She draped the gazebo in twinkling white lights, arranged clusters of lit candles throughout, and placed a bottle of champagne on ice next to a beautiful bouquet of flowers. The couple's favorite music played softly in the background mingling with the trickling of the nearby garden fountain. The stage was set for romance. The groom and his blindfolded girlfriend arrived at the inn on a perfect star-lit summer night. He led her down the path to the gazebo and unveiled the enchanting setting. Of course, she said "yes!" and the happy couple sipped champagne and slow danced the night away in complete privacy.
Adobe & Pines reports an all-day proposal that started with an hour-and-a-half balloon ride over the Rio Grande Gorge with a landing and a champagne toast, followed by a fabulous brunch. Next was a horseback ride thru the Taos Mountains. Then back to the inn where a pair of massage therapists were set up in their room for simultaneous massages. After a romantic dinner, the groom-to-be called the inn with two rings and hung up. That was their signal - they went up to the room, drew a bath with floating candles and rose petals and set out chocolate-covered strawberries and iced champagne. The answer was "yes!"
The Blair Hill innkeepers share, "Our most memorable proposal started with arranging for a Sea Plane to pick up a young couple at a lake near their home just outside of Portland, Maine. The pilot then whisked them away to pristine Moosehead Lake where they landed and were personally greeted and brought to the Blair Hill Inn where flowers and champagne awaited them in their room (all a surprise for the bride-to-be). Unable to wait any longer, the hopeful groom-to-be took his future bride to the front verandah looking out over the pristine lake and mountains and popped the question. Afterward, they enjoyed a romantic dinner overlooking the spot where they had just became engaged. They returned the following year to marry in the exact same spot. Now, each year (two so far) they return on the same date to celebrate their anniversary!"
